MP's Fashion Show
Submitted by emmeline on Wed, 2008-05-07 17:33.Last week I was invited to take part at an event at the Houses of Parliament organised by Policy Connect. This was an opportunity for business/academics and government to come together and raise important issues facing the country at any one time.
If you are anything like me you are probably wondering how fashion and parliament can work together. Well I was happy to see a number of MP's at the event, showing an interest in sustainable fashion and actively discussing this important topic.
Speakers at the event, chaired by
Commenting,
‘Today has been all about raising the profile of the issues involved but also about showcasing what can be done from a technical and design point of view. Industry, retailers and designers are just starting to tackle how we can combat ‘fast-fashion’ and to reduce its negative environmental impact. Bringing all parties concerned together as we’ve done today, can only help push that process forward’.
And here is a picture of me with some of the models on the day wearing Emmeline 4 Re, Sainsbury's and Salvation Army recycled clothing.

and here is a photo of Barry Sheerman MP, one of the MP's attending.
