What can I grow in a flat?

Word

I have a stack of herb seeds gathering dust on the worktop of my kitchen. I'm eager to grow some stuff and teach Rudy how we can grow and eat our own produce however there is one small problem. We live in a flat. I have a small space outside our front door however it's dark, dump and I'm guessing some little rodents probably sniff around in the dead of the night.

I do have access to the roof thus I could squeeze a few pots around.

What can I grow in pots? Are tomatoes def out of the picture? Can I grow herbs inside?

Look forward to hearing your wisdom...

Answer:

Quite a bit really, as long as there is enough sunlight. Most herbs can be grown in pots on the window sill and I have seen vegetables grown in outside window boxes. If you have a roof, tomatos can been easily grown in grow bags, as can courgettes, cucumbers, aubergines, peppers and you could even try melons. Don't forget that you can sprout beans and peas even without light.
