Cropping jerusalem artichokes?

Do you have any advice on when Jerusalem artichokes are ready to crop? Ours are about 1 metre high and haven't yet flowered.

Hi Alison,

Not for a while yet, they should get to a couple of metres before they flower. If you remove the flowers as they form you will get a better crop. They will be ready for harvest from the end of September onwards, they keep very well in the ground and can be harvestet when required throughout the winter.
